Baseball

Baseball is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams, typically consisting of nine players each. The game is played on a diamond-shaped field with four bases: first base, second base, third base, and home plate. The objective is to score runs by hitting a pitched ball with a bat and running around the bases to return to home plate.

The game consists of two main phases: batting and fielding. The batting team attempts to hit the ball and advance runners around the bases, while the fielding team tries to prevent runs by making plays to get batters or runners out. An out can occur in several ways, such as catching a batted ball before it touches the ground or tagging a runner with the ball.

Each team has a turn to bat and a turn to field in each inning, and a standard game is played over nine innings. The team with the most runs at the end of the game wins. Baseball is often referred to as America’s pastime, originating in the United States and gaining immense popularity worldwide, leading to professional leagues and international competitions. It emphasizes strategy, teamwork, and individual skill.
