Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, primarily using a spherical ball to score goals by getting the ball into the opposing team’s net. It is characterized by its focus on kicking the ball and using players’ feet, although other body parts, except the arms and hands (goalkeepers can use their hands within the penalty area), can be used to maneuver the ball. The game is played on a rectangular field called a pitch, with specific dimensions, and it is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game.

Football is one of the most popular sports worldwide, with its highest level of professional play represented by leagues and tournaments such as FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League, and domestic leagues in various countries. The sport emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and physical skill, and it has a passionate global following among players and fans alike. Different variations and codes of football exist, such as association football (soccer), American football, Canadian football, and rugby football, but the term “football” typically refers to association football in most regions of the world.
