Basketball

Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, typically consisting of five players each, compete to score points by throwing a ball through the opposing team’s hoop or basket, which is elevated 10 feet above the ground. The game is played on a rectangular court, and it combines elements of skill, strategy, and teamwork. Players can advance the ball by dribbling or passing it to teammates. Points are awarded for field goals made from within the three-point line (two points) or beyond it (three points), and free throws, taken after certain fouls, are worth one point each. The objective is to accumulate more points than the opposing team by the end of the game. Basketball is played at various levels, from recreational to professional leagues, and has significant popularity globally, with notable leagues such as the NBA (National Basketball Association) in the United States.
